Rotary Riffle Splitters are used primarily in the laboratory to give a split, such as 12:1 or 24:1. Rotary riffle splitters have a probability of reproducibility of over 98%. They are very accurate. The sample material to be split is placed into the feed hopper, a mechanical feeder feeds the material at a constant rate, and the sample containers rotate beneath the feeder at a constant rate, giving any particle the same probability of falling into any given container. Independent studies have shown the Rotary Rifle Splitter to be one of the most accurate methods of splitting a dry, flowable solid material.
